A word on awards
Only Hollywood loves to bestow awards more. And like Hollywood, most of the ad industry's awards tend to be a little obscure to outsiders. They have SAG awards, WGA awards and AFI awards; we have D&AD awards, CA awards and ADC awards. Alphabet soup, anyone? But I guess they're a necessary part of the business. After all, how can you be an award-winning ad agency if you aren't winning awards? Here's an easy rule of thumb for how to choose which award show to enter:
If you want to impress your peers, you win a Cannes Gold Lion.
If you want to impress your clients, you win in an Effie.
But if you want to impress your mother, you win a Clio.
